Student Council

This will be new this year at AFIA.  3rd-5th graders are all invited to be part of a great, new thing: Student Council.

I spoke with them yesterday (Friday) explaining what student council does, how to join, expectations and responsibilities.  All 3-5 students can be part of the student council body.  Each grade level will elect a student body representative; any 4th or 5th grader can run for vice-president, and any 5th grader may run for president.  These 5 positions will be named the AFIA Student Council Officers.

Officers will be required to meet once a month with the middle school and high school officers from about 3:30-4 p.m.  I will be in attendance with them.  They will also meet once a month, during school hours with the student council body.

I sent home a packet with all students interested in running for an officer position.  This must be turned in by Monday September 17th.  Posters & campaigning will begin Tuesday, as long as paperwork is turned into me. Speeches will be Friday Sept 21.

Stay tuned for more news regarding election day and further details.

Feel free to email me directly at bconover@braination.net

Sincerely,
Brandi Conover

Hi & Welcome to Mrs. Conover's Math Classroom Blog

We had a great first day today, lots of fresh & familiar smiling faces :) We spent much of the day introducing our procedures for the way things are done in the AFIA Upper Elementary. We will continue to do so the remainder of the week.

The kids were eager to meet new friends, and to visit with their old acquaintances.  Looking forward to a great first week of school.
